This year’s Annual Picnic proved to be a great time for everyone! Huge thank you to boat club members, Bill and Brenda Wathen with Lee’s Chicken Famous Recipe for their complete dinner! We sold 131 meals and everyone ate their way into a happy chicken coma.
The Cake Wheel was festive as always, with one boat club member (Clinton Hadley) buying out every paddle to ensure his selection of Mama Wayman’s banana pudding. Next year we need to charge a premium for that type of gambling!
We also had two donations to Raffle off! Boat club member Jimmie Christie with his custom corn hole boards went to Jared Strehl! They were beauties!
The winner of the custom Halloween wreath made by boat club member Sherri Stroud with Sassy Girl Creations went to ….. Robert Hill! But he was too embarrassed to claim his pretty wreath and sent Lori Edwards as the winner. Be sure to give him some grief the next time you see him.
Congratulations to new boat club member and newlywed, Angela Haynes. She won $168 half pot!
The finale of the evening was having the band Mid Rangers play for the club. These guys were really great! Entertaining, not too loud and you could really tell they enjoyed playing to people. Everyone had great things to say about them and by the dancing, seemed like it was a good time by all.
Special Thanks To:
Sheila Thomas, Melissa Roe, Nancy Daniels, Buffy Crowley, Sally Hickman, Marshall Hadley, Angela Haynes for volunteering to make this event a success. Please tell them thank you …
Side Note:
So this year we changed things up a little with the Annual Picnic by eliminating the Live Auction. I polled a lot of people and the general consensus was that if we BROUGHT BACK the auction, people would prefer a smaller auction with items that are new or in extremely good condition. Who’s to say we won’t bring it back next year? How about keeping a short, really good Live Auction and then having entertainment again?
You’re feedback is appreciated.
