registration 2013 river poker run

If you didn’t come to the 2013 River Poker Run this past weekend, you really missed out on a gorgeous and fun day! Weather could not have been better. We wished the islands could have been bigger (someone hijack that Dredger already and make more of a beach on Ellis Island), but we still packed them in!

In case you don’t know what this event is, here are the deets: You check in at one island and pay for a “hand”. Then you go to five stops at different islands on your boat and pick a card, get your ticket stamped, and off you go! When you get back to the final stop, we check to see who has the “best hand”. We give out 1st and 2nd prize. The “booty” or “loot” will depend on how many players we get. This year we had door prizes, sold these beautiful purple tanks, donations for lunches, half pot and more!

On Saturday, we had 107 hands sold at $10 each (a new record?) – so the “booty” was pretty good.

1st Place – Barbie Shelton $428 (King flush)

2nd Place – Buffy Crowley $107

Half Pot – Jessica Biggs $163

HUGE THANKS to Nancy Daniels (chair) and Melissa Roe (co-chair) for leading up this fantastic event. Without the Roe Boat and Captain Dan, it just wouldn’t be the same. Thank you also to all the volunteers and people who staffed the stops: Lisa & Todd Harmon, Paul Wayman, Chip & Cheri Wood, Dan and Brenda Bates, Lisa and Ron Englehardt, Sheila Thomas, Sally and Jay Hickman, Bob and Cathy Clark, Sherry Taber, Jessica Biggs, Jessica Clark, Brooke Huering, Christina Huff, Brianna Beard, and John Wood (the cook). I hope I didn’t leave anyone out!

Except … thank you to everyone who did turn out and play. It was great. Till next year!
